Independent Evaluation of the Freedom Online Coalition launched

On May 4th 2016, the independent evaluation of the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC) that I have carried out through the University of Pennsylvania was launched. 30 stakeholders were interviewed alongside a consultation at the Internet Governance Forum in Brazil, November 2015. Comparative analysis on five similar organisations was also completed. The report includes recommendations for the FOC to consider including clarify the aims and objectives of the Coalition, create a mechanism to review the performance of members and establish a firmer financial footing for the Coalition.  The full report can be accessed below:

Report on the technology sector in Myanmar published

Last week the Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business, the Institute of Human Rights and Business and the Danish Institute for Human Rights published a comprehensive assessment of the technology sector in Myanmar.

I’m delighted to have been involved in this, writing the recommendations annex on lawful interception and surveillance.  Thanks to all those who contributed by sharing their expertise and knowledge with me.  I hope you have the opportunity to take a look at the report.
